Adventures along the journey to parenthood

Preparing the nest

Ted’s aunt and grandmother hosted a lovely baby shower for us this past weekend. With each new blanket, sleep sack, and diaper it feels like this baby is a little more real and a little closer to gracing us with his presence. Who knew diapers could be so exciting?  They’re so little and cute!

It felt even more wonderful to be surrounded by such a loving and intelligent group of women who will make up our baby’s community. We know we can lean on them for support and so can our child for many years to come. This is certainly the best gift of all! Thank you Ma and Louise for hosting and for all your support.

Here’s a few photos of our progress as we set up Baby N’s temporary home in our bedroom for those first months. As you can see, the cats are already settled in.

Thanks for sharing the event. Appears you & Ted are nesting … those cats certainly are. David and Lori use some sort of “green” diapers and have been very happy with them. Nice to see you are as well. What brand are you using?

  2. The diapers pictured here are Bummis brand. We’ll also be using Kawaii, another brand of cloth diapers. Mom purchased some Kawaii to give us, but she hasn’t parted with them yet — she’s too happy imagining them on her little grandson. We know 4 families who use cloth with a lot of satisfaction so they’ve been a big help in showing us the various styles and brands and sharing their tips with us.

    • California Cousins: I love you! I hope you’re all doing well. I look forward to finding a way out west to see you soon. We’ll give this baby some time to grow and then I think a western journey is due!
